Parsippany, NJ, and Langley, UK – Galileo International, Inc., a leading global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Cendant Corp. (NYSE: CD), today announced that three new hotel groups have been added to its next-generation seamless hotel booking connection, Inside Shopper, bringing the total number of hotel groups to 140. The implementation of Distinguished Hotels, Independent Managed Hotels and Vagabond Hotels offers Galileo-connected agents hundreds more hotels to book instantly for customers worldwide. Inside Shopper’s increased levels of connectivity means that Galileo travel agents benefit from real-time access to all the hotels’ central reservations systems (CRS), ensuring speed, efficiency and accuracy.
Any hotel participating in Inside Shopper is accessible by all of the 44,000 agencies using Galileo’s GDS throughout the world. The seamless link to the hotel’s CRS ensures agents have instant access to the best rates and real time availability at all times. Should the rate requested be already booked, the system will automatically show other available rates or indicate if the hotel is fully booked on the dates selected.
Louise Meyer, Senior Director of Hospitality Business Development and Sales, The Americas, Cendant Travel Distribution Services, commented, “We are delighted to announce the implementation of the 140th hotel group for Inside Shopper, which further consolidates Galileo’s leadership over the other GDSs in this area. Galileo travel agents now have the highest levels of connectivity to even more hotel chains. Booking a hotel that has Inside Shopper connectivity ensures that agents can be confident that the availability and prices they are viewing are accurate, helping them offer clients a fast, accurate and efficient service.”
Galileo has 62,000 hotels available for agents to book instantly in destinations and cities throughout the world.
